Holiday Break

Well,

A week without posting, mostly due to the shortened week leading up to thanksgiving, has passed. Lots has happened. We had a great thanksgiving, splitting time between the Webber's and the Kaminski's. My parents had about 32 people, My dad was excited because it was 'starting the next generation'. We had two turkeys and two pork loins (mmmmm. . . ) We picked up dessert later in the afternoon at Nicole's Aunt/Uncle's house. Had some great pumpkin pie.

The kids had a blast, even without a properly scheduled nap, they were able to survive in good spirits.

At the end of the day on thursday, we trekked back home from sterling heights with Danny and Jillian in tow. They were Gracious enough to bunk at our place and watch the kids in the morning, so we could get some shopping in. We picked up everything we needed for the season ( and some things we probably didnt ;-) )

I rounded out my day on friday by coming into work and cleaning up my cubical (i can now see some of my desk). This week they start construcion on my new server room/office. I'll get some before and after pics up.

Creationism/Intelligent Design and Darwinism

One of my favorite comic strips for the past few years has been 'dilbert'. The witty, office-space like humor is always a good break in the middle of the day. When I found out that Dilbert's writer (Scott Adams) started blogging, I promptly added him to my bloglines and have been enjoying his comments almost daily.

Over the weekend (Nov. 12th to be specific) He posted an interesting commentary on the debate of Intelligent design VS Darwinism. You should Check it out, also be sure to read the comments to it, as they bring out the passion about it.

Quite honestly, I've grown tired of arguing about the topic. It seems to me that as a Christian, my focus should not be on arguing someone into believing something different than what they believe... that's simply not how Jesus did things.

For those of you that know me, know that I'm a fairly argumentative person. This is something I know I need to work on, but is still very present in my persona today. Just last night I caught myself 'correcting' my wife repeatedly (like 6-8 times in 10 minutes), it's not as if she was particularity wrong about anything, I just have the ingrained need to have the last word.

So as it stands, I pretty much fall to the old bumper sticker 'God said it, I believe it', but I know that is not enough for most people. I think the only way that those who are seeking will truly see who God is, must experience the LOVE of Jesus Christ---not through an argument.

I've found that sometimes, even if you win the argument--- you still end up losing

Tag Cloud

I've added a tag cloud on the right side of the page. It's supposed to help you find similar topics in other blogs. It grabs feeds that i specify and gives you the 'cloud' of words that are in them.

check it out

High School Traditions

the Verisimilitude Tribune has an interesting write up on what some like minded people can do when they set their mind to it. I thought the statistics on homecoming attendance were pretty interesting

mmmmmm Candy

Well halloween is Passed, and for those of you who are in that age bracket, the evening likely brought you pounds of teeth rotting goodness.
Okay, I'll admit it: my 20 month old kids will probably not eat most of their candy ( i think there was some goldfish or fruit snacks in there for them). SOOO, for those of you parents of those old enough to partake in the journey, but not quite old enough to consume the rewards, the same teeth rotting goodness likely applies.
Halloween is one of those holidays that as a child growing up, we did not 'celebrate'. That is, we didn't head around door to door asking for candy. We did however do stuff with church/ family that was fun.
So combine me, who wishes i would have, with my wife who RAVES about childhood trick or treating, and you end up with two of the cutest honeybees ever:

Everything went well, I reallly enjoyed watching the kids, who understood suprisingly more than i thought they would. By the third house they were running up the sidewalks to say 'twik tweet'.

I'll get some additional pictures posted for those requesting it.

I read an interesting post from Tony Morgan, and i just wanted to get it out in the blogsphere that I TOTAL AGGREE :-) no dissenting here ;-)

EDIT: I also found THIS POST from Mike Haman regarding halloween.
